DRD Records Presents Dirty Valentines: a 3-Day Streaming Event

No matter how, with who—or even without—you choose to spend your Valentine’s weekend, we have a tech-house to-do to add to those plans. Down Right Dirty Records has paired up with Novabeatz, Pittsburgh Funk Family, and BadTable Manners Detroit to patch together The Dirty Valentines: a steamy Valentine event streaming some superior talent.

This stream isn’t your average one night stand; things kick off bright and early Saturday, February 12 at 10 a.m. and bounce all the way through to Monday afternoon. 27 unique DJs will be kissing the airwaves from as far west as California with Alex Amaro, stretching all through the United States and touching base with Celestial Sounds in Colorado, Heatwerk in Oklahoma, Chris Maze in Pennsylvania, and across the Atlantic into the United Kingdom with Vanilla ACE and FunkSpin. Listeners can expect an assortment of house and techno through the course of the schedule.

Vanilla ACE

Vanilla ACE in particular was named as one of Beatport’s Top 10 best selling Nu Disco artists for 2014 and for 2015 and is sure to bring booty-shaking beats your entire date.

“He’s been a DJ idol of mine for years now,” David Lagerholm, founder of Down Right Dirty, said.

Down Right Dirty Productions was birthed out of Central-PA in 2009, around the same time that Lagerholm began his DJ career under the name DigitalDavy. After a decade of navigating the electronic music scene, Lagerholm wanted to take his promotional services even further, and Down Right Dirty developed its brand from a production company into a full-blown record label.

“I started as an open-format DJ playing everything under the sun, then I found Nu Disco and fell in love. I became interested in DJing after seeing Orchard Lounge at Camp Bisco 4 and how they blend so well with live bands,” Lagerholm said.

Craig Brodhead (Turkuaz/Yesmann)

The weekend’s lineup has its own blending of jam bands with featured artists Craig Brodhead of Turkuaz (spinning as Yesmann) and Chris Gironda of Space Bacon (Tetracube). To catch musicians expressing themselves in a genre apart from their usual is always an exceptionally sweet treat.

Personally, we’re excited to catch Mr. Falcon, a DJ & production duo hailing from Philadelphia, PA comprised of Ily and Blueshift. They’ve been broadcasting from their Twitch channel every Tuesday and Thursday since the start of the pandemic, and we’ve been tuning in rather religiously to their sets.

Lagerholm has been hosting regular DigitalDavy “Happy Hours” on Facebook live and his Twitch channel as well.

The Dirty Valentines will premiere on Twitch, and viewers can tip acts through PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, and bits (Twitch’s own currency) throughout the course of the weekend.

Set your alarms, grab some candles, and make sure to have a bath ready, because this Valentine’s weekend is going to get Dirty.

Make sure to follow Down Right Dirty Records on their socials for upcoming releases, streams, and eventually, events.
